How to understand what a cat hurts, advices for cat people. The cat does not touch the stomach growls

It may seem that stroking a cat is very simple, but it is important for children and people who rarely communicate with these animals to know what can and cannot be done. If you pet the cat where she does not like it, or do it too hard and hastily, the cat may bite or scratch you. It is recommended to do only what the cat likes: ask the animal for permission to touch the hair, and let the cat control your communication. There are several areas that it is impossible to make a mistake with - usually a cat really likes to be stroked in those places where the animal has odorous glands. The spread of the smell makes the space familiar to the cat, and this causes a pleasant sensation. If you know where you can and where you can not touch the cat, you and the animal will enjoy the process.

Steps

Let the cat come up to you

    To get started, let the cat sniff you so that it stops being afraid.   Extend your hand or finger and let the cat touch its nose to you.

  • If the cat does not show interest in the hand or simply looks incredulously at it, it is better not to stroke the animal. Try the same thing at a different time when your cat’s mood changes.
  • If the cat sniffs his hand, mews and begins to rub his face or body about you, most likely, she is ready for caresses. Open your palm and lightly touch the animal.

Wait until the cat starts to rest against your head.   If a cat rubs its head, it means that it wants attention. If you are busy, at least stroke her a couple of times so that she knows that you are not ignoring her.

Pet the cat once if it jumps onto your lap and lies down. Pay attention to whether the cat is spinning on its lap. If so, perhaps she is looking for a comfortable place and wants to lie down, because the human body emits heat. If she lies calmly, you can gently pat her on the back or in places, which will be discussed below.

Stroke the cat when it is lying on its side.   Cats love to be stroked in this position. Run your hand along the side that is facing up. If the cat meows or rumbles, it means that she is well.

  • Do not touch the cat by the stomach (this will be described in more detail in the third part of this article, step 3).
  • Listen for sounds (rumbling).   With the help of a rumbling, the cat reports its readiness to communicate with the person and that she wants attention. If the cat pushes you with its head, hips or curls in your legs, it means that it wants you to stroke it right now. Sometimes a cat wants one touch as a greeting, rather than a long hug.

    • The rumbling volume indicates how pleasant your cat is doing. The louder the rumbling, the more the cat likes what is happening. A weak rumbling indicates that the cat is happy, and a strong rumbling indicates that the animal is very well. If the cat rumbles very loudly, this may indicate excessive joy, which sometimes turns into irritation, so be careful.
  • Pay attention to signs that the cat does not want to be stroked anymore.   Sometimes even pleasant strokes and touches can cause irritation, especially if they are often repeated. If you do not notice this annoyance in time, the cat may bite your hand slightly or scratch it. However most often before biting, the cat makes it clear several times that it does not need to be ironed anymore. Pay attention to the following symptoms, and if you notice them, stop stroking:

    Stroke the cat between or behind the ears.   With your fingertips, lightly press on the head. The base of the ears also has odorous glands. If a cat pushes its head, it marks you as its territory.

    Stroke the cat behind the mustache.   If your cat loves such touches, she will turn her mustache forward so that you continue to stroke her.

    Gently rub your hand across the cheek.   When the cat gets used to your touch, swipe the middle finger over the mustache (above the mouth) and on the cheek and stroke the head with your thumb. Everything, now your cat!

    Stroke the cat from head to tail. Run your hand over the head, then from the top of the head to the tail. Do this several times. Knead the cat's neck muscles with light massaging movements. Press lightly on your neck and make a few slow movements. You should stroke the cat in only one direction (from head to tail), since many cats do not like to be stroked against the coat.

    Know What Should Not Be Done

      Stroke the cat from head to tail, but not vice versa.   Some cats do not like stroking against the coat.

      Do not pat the cat.   Some cats like this, but some don’t, so if you don’t spend so much time with the animal, do not risk it, otherwise the cat may scratch or bite you.

    1. Do not touch the stomach.   When the cat is relaxed, it can turn upside down on its back. This should not be regarded as a request to stroke the stomach, because most cats really do not like it. This is due to the fact that in nature, cats should be careful and protect themselves from predators (unlike dogs that feel more confident and can scratch their stomach). The stomach is a vulnerable area where vital organs are concentrated, so many cats instinctively release their claws and grind their teeth if someone touches their stomach.

      • Some cats like it, but they consider it a proposal to fight using claws and teeth or an invitation to rough games. The cat will grab your hand with its claws, bite it, or begin to scratch with its hind or front legs. This is not always worth considering as an attack - often cats play like that.
      • If the cat grabs you with its paws, freeze and let it let you go. If necessary, open the cat's paws with the second hand. Sometimes the claws get stuck and deep scratches remain on the body, even if the cat does not want to. With claws, cats grab and hold objects, so when a cat grabs you with its paws, it means that it wants you to stop. If you stop, the cat will stop clawing at you.
    2. Feet should be touched with care.   Do not play with the paws of an animal, unless you know this cat very well and that she loves touching her paws. First, pet the cat so that it relaxes, and then ask her permission to stroke the paws by touching each paw with a finger.

      • If the cat does not mind, gently stroke the paw with your finger in the direction of hair growth (from the wrist to the fingers). If the cat pulls its paw, hisses, squeezes its ears or decides to leave, stop trying.
      • Many cats do not allow their hands to be touched, but they can be accustomed to procedures such as claw trimming, if you regularly train them using treats as a reward.
    • When children caress a cat, they should be closely watched. They can easily anger the animal, which will result in bites and scratches. Adult-friendly cats do not always treat children the same way. Make sure that children do not bring their face too close to the cat.
    • If the cat has bitten or scratched you, thoroughly wash the wound with antibacterial soap and use an antiseptic. Then seek medical attention. Deep wounds require examination by a doctor because of the high probability of infection.
    • Do not pet your cat if you are allergic.
    • If the cat seems aggressive, do not approach it, as it can bite and scratch badly.

    Everyone knows that cats are very wayward. We all love to pet them, but very few people know how to pet a cat properly so that you and your pet enjoy it. There is even a certain technique in this regard. Observing it, you will understand how to properly stroke, so that the cat does not show aggression and discontent.

    There are many animals on earth, and there are no people who do not like affection, because this feeling is inherent in everyone from birth, when my mother washes or strokes. Feline animals like no other species love affection. For cats, stroking is a manifestation of attention, care, affection for them.

    Stroking technique

    Experts studying animal behavior have repeatedly carried out experiments on how to pet a cat so that he likes it. As a result, they came to the conclusion that to start stroking should be an attempt to reach out and try to do a few strokes on the head or body. By the reaction of the cat it will be noticeable whether the animal is predisposed, at this time, to caresses or not. If the cat moves away from the hand or tries to bite, then do not anger him and stroke through his will. If, on the contrary, the animal begins to rub together, substitute its head, back or stomach, then the cat is not against petting.

    Ironing correctly

    The cat has his favorite places (points) from touching which he enjoys the most. However, each person also has his favorite places that bring maximum pleasure, which is noticeable when performing a massage.

    For a cat, stroking, this is a kind of massage that brings pleasure, soothing and relaxation.

    Conventionally, the cat's body can be divided into several zones:

    • head;
    • occiput;
    • chest and neck;
    • back;
    • stomach

    Head

    Almost all cats do not mind when they pet their head. But, try not to touch their ears with your hand. This is a special and very sensitive organ, a touch on which is not very pleasant for a cat. One of the places that brings maximum pleasure for almost all cats is the upper part of the nose and forehead. Gentle stroking with your fingers in this place has a very beneficial effect on the cat. The thing is that this is the point at which, in childhood, mother licks each kitten, washing them. Apparently, these pleasant memories are laid in each kitten on a subconscious level, therefore, when stroking in this place, they experience very pleasant feelings.

    Nape

    The back of the head and the places behind the ears are also very sensual for the cat. Taking your pet in your arms, you can start with gentle strokes in this place. Stroking the places behind the ears will allow you to relax and enjoy any, even the most obstinate cat.

    Chest and neck

    These places, too, bring pleasure to the cat, because it is difficult for him to scratch them on his own, therefore, the domestic cat will never refuse to help the owner. Start stroking it with your chin, gradually moving over your entire neck. If the cat is pleased, then she will begin to crank her neck up, which is a sign of continuing caresses.

    Back

    Given that cats are four-legged animals, when walking, they experience maximum load on the spine and back. Stroking the back brings cats maximum pleasure and relaxation. Relieve stress and fatigue after active movements, games. The entire back area, from the top of the neck to the hips, is the zone of maximum tension, therefore, a light massage will benefit the cat.

    Stomach

    Another place that cat enjoys is the stomach. Stroking his stomach should only be if the cat himself asks for it. Cats are animals that are very careful. Lying on their backs, they are very vulnerable, therefore, they are not always willing to accept stroking in the abdomen. Only when the cat feels that he is safe can allow stroking in this place.

    If you notice, then dogs can often lie down in front of a person to stroke their stomach, then cats, on the contrary, will never lie on their back in front of a stranger. Stroking the abdomen is a special privilege, which is available only to those people whom the cat knows well and is completely trusted. Such people usually include members of the family in which the cat lives.

    Where not to iron

    We have listed the places where you should properly pet your cat. Let's figure out where to iron is not worth it.

    The cat also has places where stroking it does not give absolutely any pleasure, but introduces the animal into tension, a state of stress and sometimes even aggression. There are reasons for this.

    Should not be ironed:

    • against wool;
    • tail

    Against wool

    If you decide to pet your cat against the hair, then this can not only bring him discomfort, but also cause aggression. If the cat is short-haired, then such stroking can hurt him, therefore, the cat can scratch or bite. So its protective reaction is shown.

    Ears

    There are many nerve endings on the cat’s ears. Not surprisingly, the cat has a hearing range from 3 to 45 thousand Hz, while in humans, it does not exceed 10 thousand Hz. On ears, cats are guided when choosing a direction of movement. In addition, this organ is very gentle and sensitive. Any touch to the ears makes the cat uncomfortable.

    Tail

    Touching the tail can push the cat to protection, therefore, touching, including stroking the tail should not be. For a cat, this organ serves as a steering wheel, for balancing, i.e. evens out the body while moving. In addition, this organ contains a large number of different nerve endings and the cat with great distrust refers to those who try to touch its tail. On it you can determine the emotional state at a given time. Unlike dogs, twitching of the tail from side to side indicates emotional stress and irritation of the animal. When the dog wags its tail, this is evidence of the expression of positive emotions.

    You can visually see how to properly pet a cat by watching a video.

    In conclusion, it should be said that stroking for an animal is as enjoyable as it is for a person. The main thing is to do it right. Thus, the cat herself receives a charge of comfort and positive emotions and gives them to the person.

    “A man is as cultured as he is able to understand a cat.”
    Bernard Show

    “God created ferocious lions, bloodthirsty by nature, and then a cat appeared - a lioness, but in miniature.”
    Heinrich Heine

    "God created the Cat so that man has a tiger that can be stroked."
    Victor Hugo

    Do you like to pet your cat?

    I am sure that most owners love to do this. Some specially breeze the animal so that it can be grabbed at any time, forcibly put it on its lap and “SMOOTH” well in all places.

    Now a second and more important question: and your cat loves when you pet her?

    Does she show clear signs of pleasure? He purrs loudly, rubs his head against your hand, squints rather, puts his back to you, "butts" his head, even rolls belly up, completely trusting you?

    Or, in response to your “caresses,” does the cat hiss indignantly, break out, scratch, or even bite, and then rather give a fight?

    Then the third and most important question is brewing:   But do you know how to stroke a cat correctly and do you think about how to please the animal, and not yourself?

    In fact, it turns out that a huge number of people pet cats completely wrong, and as animal behavior experts (behaviorists) say, this leads to serious misunderstanding between the owner and his cat.

    Sometimes the irritation and discontent that has accumulated in the cat leads to serious behavioral problems: the animal begins to scratch and bite the hands of any person who reaches out for it, sometimes it begins to crap out of place or tear things and scratch furniture. Cats are known to be very vindictive.

    But if you learn more about the peculiarities of cats' behavior, you can avoid many problems and get great mutual pleasure and health benefits by regularly stroking and caressing your pets.

    Scientists have proved that when a person strokes a cat, his blood pressure decreases and stress states are relieved.

    Most domestic animals (if they do not have mental disorders) love human affection and even often themselves seek the attention of the owner and ask them to pet.

    However, each animal has its own preferences: for how long and in what place the person is allowed to stroke him. These preferences develop gradually in a cat and depend on many factors:

    In my pride of 20 cats, animals got in different ways: some (Fleur, Fairy, Fiji) were picked up on the street; others (Caesar, Verona, Malibu, Alice, etc.) were saved from dishonest owners; many (Jolly, Michelle, Charlie, Tootsie, Smalley, Adele, Julien and others) were born from my cats and were immediately raised in full respect and love in our "hammock of freaks."

    As a result of 20 years of observing cats, I came to the conclusion that if you behave correctly and patiently, you can achieve complete love and trust in any cat or cat.

    Below I want to bring rules on how to pet cats,   accumulated both from my long experience and generalized from various sources on the Internet.

      1. A cat can be stroked only when she herself wants it and she can never

        to impose their affection, holding on to force.
      2. Before you try to pet the cat, try to let her see how you approach her.   Do not approach the shy cat imperceptibly, otherwise you will not be able to build a trusting relationship with her.
      3. Before stroking a cat, take a look if it is annoyedwhether she is beating her tail from side to side and if her ears are not pressed. And if she begins to meow and growl menacingly - step back immediately, show the animal that you respect his desires. Observe and learn the body language of the animal - it can tell you a lot.
      4. Never try to pet a very frightened cat - you will not remove this, but only sharply increase its stress. It is better to speak quietly and soothingly with the animal. let it "cool", and then you can very gently and comfortingly stroke it.
      5. Never go to cats with caresses while eating and do not disturb them during sleep and when she is in her tray.
      6. Do not touch the cat if you have used perfumes and other odorous cosmetics   or creams - cats can't stand it.
      7. To understand whether an animal (especially a stranger) wants tactile contact,

        reach your cat’s nose and let it sniff you and touch your hand
        , to show that no aggression emanates from you (your movements should always be smooth, calm and not sharp). If the animal dodges your hand or does not respond - do not insist and do not impose your tenderness   (such as "yes, who is the boss here, I feed this parasite, and it shows off)."
      8. Many cats do not like long caresses. They can quite murmur and rub about you for 2-3 minutes, but if you go too far with tenderness, the cat will begin to hiss and sometimes even bite and scratch. The fact is that, in principle, long and too frequent strokes are unpleasant for cats - they perceive them as stress and aggression. A group of British animal behavior experts has proven that stress hormones develop as a result of frequent and excessive touching, and quiet pets suffer the most. who stoically and against their will endure the obsessive harassment of their selfish masters. A few cats. living in flocks experience much less problems. On average, cats react to strokes negatively more often than positively.
      9. Do not hang over the cat, try to be on the same level with it and avoid looking into her eyes for a long time and directly, better stand a little to the side, or sit on a sofa or in an armchair, relax and wait for the cat to come to you and sit next to you.
      10. Never pet cat against hair, gently stroke her forehead, the areas between the ears and eyes, the chin and breast, behind the ears and the back of the head, back

      11. Avoid touching (unless the cat completely trusts you) the stomach, paws and

          tail   - Often it infuriates them and they begin to clasp your hand in paws, claws and grab your teeth. If the cat took your finger or hand in your teeth, never sharply pull it back - the cat instinctively clings to the "prey" and you will get torn bites. Just relax your hand in the jaws of the animal, making it clear. that you fully trust him and are not afraid. After a few seconds, the cat will release his hand. After a series of studies, animal behavior experts found out how cats react to touching different parts of the body.   The greatest negative in the subjects caused

        stroking in the tail area.
      12. Cats that have long and completely trusted you adore turning their belly up and asking them to scratch it, demonstrating complete trust and respect for you. The stomach of cats is the most vulnerable spot, and it is genetically laid down to protect it. Required

        follow the request of the animal. In general, cats cannot be ignored
        , I know for sure that when you run and there is no time, they are offended and pout on you.
      13. AND   never shout or scream sharply when talking with a cat   - you will fall sharply in her opinion of you 🙂
      14. Some cats (but not all !!!) like to be massaged on the pads of their hind legs (they are very fun to spread their fingers out with a fan).
      15. If the cat herself jumped to your knees - rejoice !!! But do not immediately rush to stroke it. Scientists have proved that most often a cat just wants to lie relaxed on your warm knees, but as soon as you start stroking it, it gets offended, jumps and leaves.

      16. It is very useful to play interactive games with the cat for 10-15 minutes, changing 2-3 toys in one session   (a bow on a string, then throw a ball, then a fishing rod and a dessert with a little laser pointer). The cat moves around, discards the accumulated energy and negative emotions for the day, and often then with pleasure and gratitude will look for your affection.
      17. Never pet a cat after you have punished it! She will regard this as a manifestation of encouragement and weakness on your part, and will continue to manipulate and repeat your outrages.
      18. With very nervous and excitable cats, show more patience and tact.

        If the family has other more gullible and affectionate animals, it is very useful to stroke them in her presence. so that she sees that other members of the pack love your affection and trust you.
      19. In the case of a problem animal, it is very useful every time you feed it to stay at a certain distance from the bowl so that the cat remembers the one who feeds it and begins to trust him.
      20. Some nervous and intimidated cats have a hypersensitivity syndrome, when they react sharply negatively to any touch. In this case, your affection will not cause pleasure, but only pain. This syndrome is sometimes treated with special training.

      21. If a cat rubs against your legs, then this is by no means a call for stroking - it simply marks you with its smell as “its territory”.

    I really hope that you will try to better understand the preferences of your pet, and he will not receive stress, but the pleasure of your stroking.

    At the same time, you will improve your mood and physical condition.

    Happy communication with these wonderful, capricious, mysterious and beautiful creatures - Cats!

    And I suggest you watch a wonderful video, which offers a wonderful method on how to teach a cat to love to stroke.

    The owner of two cats - Zeus (who adored when the owner stroked him) and Phoebe (who at first did not tolerate any touch at all), gradually accustomed his cat-untouched to love human affection. He put tiny pieces of raw meat in a plastic bag and Phoebe immediately climbed onto his lap.

    He treated the cat to a piece, and then gently and unobtrusively stroked it several times. He never stopped Phoebe, and she could at any moment jump to the ground.

    Gradually, the cat began to trust her master, associate his affection with something tasty and enjoyable. Then she hopped to his lap, even just hearing the rustling of a plastic bag.

    The last part of the video, when the owner strokes this untouched Phoebe, who first came to him without any meat and enjoys lying on his chest, is especially good 🙂

    And the second cat, fat Zeus, was jealous of Phoebe to his beloved master and took her place 🙂

    Addition:

    One of my readers sent an excellent comment to my other article.

    But since it complements this article, I decided to duplicate it here:

    Not everyone is aware that politeness in communication is pleasant to a cat. I noticed that any cat, not necessarily offended, would be more willing to stroke it if you first let it sniff your hand, especially if the cat sees you for the first time or after a break (for example, you came home from work). Of course, you don’t need to bring it too sharply so as not to frighten the animal, but, usually, it’s not worth it and to deliberately slowly “sneak up” on it with your hand. It’s best to open your palm freely and turn up so that the cat sees that you don’t have anything dangerous in it, but don’t have to put a “boat” out of it, as if you were giving it a treat — you don’t do it now - don’t knock off the animal will not understand the point, can take offense and do it right - this is how to promise the child a candy and not give it. As you can see that there is nothing in the palm of your hand, it is usually enough for the cat to sniff the tips of your fingers. If this is a well-known cat, a couple of seconds is usually enough, just how to say hello. It will take a little longer if, for example, you bring in your hands some kind of smell that is especially interesting for her, most often from the street, or, possibly, from the kitchen, where you picked up food. “Now, show me where you came from?” And what were you doing there without me? Did you eat anything? ” 🙂And, of course, it will take longer if the cat sees you for the first time - here you need not only to say hello - to identify your smell and introduced aromas, but also to get acquainted - not just to recognize, but to study your smell, and at the same time to look at your behavior, make sure that you are safe, do not make sudden movements, do not try to grab it. Holding this hand for a few seconds, you can gently transfer it to stroke the cat on the head first, it will let you know if she is still interested, if she hasn’t studied everything with smells - just reaching for your moving hand with her nose - well, give her then a few seconds, then try to stroke another. Observance of such a simple "rule of good form" allows from the first minutes of communication to establish contact and, if possible, position the animal to itself.

    How to stroke a cat so that she is happy

    5 (100%) 50 votes

    Cat fangs are very sharp and cause more pain than dog fangs. A harmless cat bite can result in inflammation and even infection. Therefore, it is urgent to stop the pet's aggressive behavior.

      Causes of sudden animal aggression

    The cat’s sudden aggressive behavior should alarm. Many owners do not even suspect that in most cases their behavior provokes a bite. It is important to know where it is best to stroke a kitten. There are those parts of the body that touch the animal infuriates.

    What should not be touched:

    1. 1. The stomach. This is one of the most sensitive and vulnerable places. The cat during caresses can specially turn as if urging to stroke the stomach. The pet shows how much he trusts the person. But during the touch, instinctive defense takes place. He bites his teeth into his hand, can connect his hind legs to make it even more painful. It is impossible to punish in this situation. It was a natural reaction. And in the best case, the cat simply does not understand human behavior, and in the worst, it harbors resentment.
    2. 2. The tail. The cat bites when she is stroked in this place. This is because there are many nerve endings on the tail. Even a slight touch can hurt the animal.
    3. 3. Paws. Feline limbs are used for walking, protection, hunting. Most often, animals react negatively when they touch their hind legs. There are genitals, tail nearby, the pet begins to feel threatened and defenseless, which is why it immediately tries to bite.

    If the cat initially did not have a mood for contact, then such a negative reaction should not be surprised. In this way, she shows a lack of readiness for communication, a desire to be alone.

    You can determine the bad mood, in which it is better not to touch the pet, by the following signs:

    • sharp, frequent tail movements from side to side;
    • enlarged pupils;
    • ears are apart or strongly pressed to the head;
    • disapproving meow.

    If such changes in behavior have been noticed, it is recommended to leave the pet alone for a while.

    What else can provoke unfriendly behavior:

    1. 1. The desire to keep everything under control. Cats are proud animals. And if they do not want excessive attention, they will stop him of all kinds, even with the help of bites.
    2. 2. There is no trust in people. A human company requires kittens up to 2 months. During this period, the attitude to the surrounding world is laid, socialization takes place. If the cat grew up in the wild, then it will be worse to make contact, react negatively to human attention.

    The cat never bit, but suddenly began to behave inappropriately - it is worth taking him to the veterinarian.   Perhaps a change in behavior is caused by the following diseases:

    • cervical arthritis;
    • periodontitis;
    • infection, ear inflammation.

    If any of these diseases is present, the pain attack is worse. A pet bite is a way to stop unwanted touch.

      Why does a cat bite just like that?

    Cats never express their mood with bites for no reason. But such actions are dangerous to humans, left wounds can fester, become inflamed.   Abrupt changes in the behavior of the pet are due to:

    1. 1. Change of teeth. Like humans, kittens have milk teeth that fall out and change to molars. This process is accompanied by itching, irritation. The kitten is trying to get rid of them with the help of bites. He needs special toys. This occurs at the 3rd or 4th month of life. It is important to form the correct model of behavior during this period so that the desire to bite does not become a habit.
    2. 2. Puberty. The attitude of adults who are ready to continue the genus of cats is changing. They begin to bite, scratch, do not obey. Determining if a character change is related to hormones is simple. The pet begins to make marks throughout the house, meows loudly and unnaturally, trying to spend all the time outdoors. There are only 2 ways to deal with the problem - to find a cat or to castrate.
    3. 3. Lack of claws. In domestic cats, the claws are cleaned completely in the veterinary clinic or partially trimmed at home. Losing the main remedy is a lot of stress. The cat is trying to make up the protective function with the help of teeth. In addition, if the owner was engaged in cutting the claws, the bites can be the revenge of the offended pet.
    4. 4. attention deficit. Work, study, leisure outside the owner’s house make the cat feel lonely. Bites, scratches - a way to attract attention, make you play. It is necessary to pay more attention to the animal, preferably every day at least 10-15 to play with it.
    5. 5. Lack of care. An uncleaned tray, lack of food can cause the pet to use fangs and claws. But this is a rare occurrence. Most often, in the absence of care, he will go to the toilet past the tray, meow, spoil things. Sometimes before a bite in this case, the pet first licks, and then tries to bite.

    Do not rush to punish. First you need to determine the cause of the strange behavior, and then choose a more correct method.

    What to do?

    Weaning a pet is not difficult. The main thing is to show attention, patience. If aggressive behavior is explained by capriciousness, a habit (at a young age it was allowed to bite hands, feet), then it is necessary to show firmness with respect to the animal.   There are several types of punishments:

    1. 1. Act like mom cat. With each attempt to bite, you need to grab the animal, press it to the floor and say in a loud, confident tone: "Don’t do it! You can’t! Stop it!".
    2. 2. Ignore. After you manage to get out of the cat’s unfriendly embrace, you need to go out into the street or into another room. For some time, do not react in any way to her actions.

    A stressful cat will also bite. But you can’t punish her. It is necessary to reassure her, to assure her of security, to re-form and strengthen trusting relationships. To do this, you need to take care of her, do not try to forcefully pick up or stroke, play more often.

    How to stop a pet ready for an attack:

    1. 1. Water. Pour water into a spray bottle and spray onto an animal.
    2. 2. The bedspread. Throw a cloth over the angry pet. A limited, dark space will immediately change its reaction.
    3. 3. The noise. To scare and stop an attack of aggression, you need to loudly clap your hands or shake the bag with a trifle.

    You can solve the problem with a mature cat as follows:

    • castrate;
    • find a cat for mating;
    • buy and give drugs to reduce sexual arousal (Gestrenol, Fiteks, Sex Barrier).

    Lack of upbringing and attention most often changes the cat’s attitude to the owner. To remove the psychological barrier, you need to encourage the animal, buy him toys.

    Do not make hasty decisions and immediately punish. Perhaps the negative behavior of the pet is associated with stress, disease. Therefore, the first thing to do is find out the reason. Cats are sensitive, proud animals, therefore, to establish contact, you will need to show a lot of patience and endurance.

    How and where to pet a cat or cat in a way that they like: in what places, is it possible to pet against the fur and why they do not let you rub your stomach, how to find an approach to an unfamiliar cat.

    Even those people who do not have pets, at least once in their life stroking a cat. And, most likely, they didn’t do it exactly as she liked.

    It is best to pet the cat in those places where he has concentrated odorous glands. When a person touches these areas of hair, the skin underneath secrets a secret that remains on his hands. Thus, the cat marks its owner, which makes him happier and more confident.

    Top places

    All cats are different, but they have one thing in common - they love when they scratch face   in different places, they are indifferent to being patted on their backs and do not like being touched on their stomach.

    Most cats like to be scratched. under the chin, especially where the jaw connects to the skull.

    Pleased to them and when they are stroked on the sides of the muzzle   and preferably with both hands at the same time.

    There are cats who adore when they massaging cheeksand a triangle between them and the nose (but very gently).

    Some cats are thrilled to be petted. at the base of the earswhere odorous glands are also located.

    There are animals that love touching lower tail.

    To determinewhat exactly the cat likes, wait until the cat comes to you, take it on your knees, sweep your hand from head to tail. If in the process she turns to you and pokes her head under her arm, then this is a clear signal that you need to pay more attention to the muzzle, and not the body. Look at which part of the muzzle she touched you - sideways, forehead, cheeks or threw back her head, exposing her neck. This is where you need to concentrate this time. If you do not ironwhat is required of you, but what you want, the cat will simply jump from your lap and go looking for more understanding hands.

    Pay attention   and on the tail of a cat - the stronger and sharper it waves it, the less happy it is with you. Try to scratch her in another part of the face, but rather stop it and if she wants to leave, do not hold. If she suddenly stopped murmuring and turned on you or changed the position of her ears, then this is a signal that you started to do something wrong or tired of it.

    Like any massage, stroking a cat after all annoying and she leaves. However, if she lingered on your lap, and especially if she also purred, it means that you did everything right. Do not worry if, after purring, she tried to bite you, and then left - this is a normal reaction to excessive stimulation.

    Is it possible to stroke cats against wool

    Some veterinarians advise combing cats against hair in order to better remove fallen hair. However, animals definitely don’t like it, because they just unpleasant.

    Young children are very fond of stroking cats against the hair and performing “for experiment” other unpleasant actions for them. Therefore, never leave your cat alone with a child who has come to visit, and explain to your children the rules of behavior with animals.

    Also never suddenly don't block the cat review, because she will perceive it as a threat, she will be scared and will run away.

    Is it worth touching the stomach

    The situation when a cat or cat is considered perfectly normal prevents stroking your stomach. An animal, even if it feels absolutely safe at home, never forgets that it can become someone’s prey. Turning over to the stomach, it protects its vital organs, which are not protected by anything below. And if a cat bites you while trying to stroke his beautiful soft tummy, this does not mean at all that he does not trust you - just instinct is stronger.

    How to find an approach to someone else's cat

    If you came to visit, and the cat living there has never seen you, do not rush to take it in your hands, stroke and throw it into the air. Don't touch herlet her smell you herself. Although most cats show interest in a new person who appears on their doorstep, only a few are not opposed to immediately stroking and squeezing them.

    When a cat has a stomach ache, there can be many reasons for an unpleasant phenomenon. It is important to find out the cause of the disorder as soon as possible and to conduct a full therapy of the disease. In some cases, the animal’s life depends on the speed of diagnosis and the start of treatment. Abdominal pain in a pet can be noticed by certain symptoms. The owner needs not to miss them and pay attention to the violation of their pet's well-being in a timely manner.

    Causes and symptoms

    The cause of an unpleasant phenomenon can be so different in nature by reason that the owner will not be able to understand exactly what happened to the four-legged friend, if he himself is not a veterinarian. Knowing the cause of the problem, you can decide what to do if the cat has a stomach ache.

    1. constipation

    • mournful meow;
    • restless running of the animal around the apartment;
    • futile attempts to cleanse the intestines, which the animal does not even take on the tray.

    If there are sharp elements in the intestines, such as bone fragments, they can lead to rupture of the intestines, which threatens the cat with death if the owner does not take timely measures. Symptoms of a cat having a stomach ache include dilated pupils and aggressive behavior when trying to touch a problem area.

      2. Peritonitis

    A dangerous condition in which a cat develops purulent inflammation in the abdominal cavity. The well-being of the animal worsens sharply, the cat meows in pain, its stomach swells. An increase in temperature occurs sharply and to significant indicators. Even with urgent veterinary care, it is not always possible to save the pet, since pus melts the tissue and leads to the death of organs. Successful therapy is only possible if the internal organs are not affected, and the animal is strong and with good immunity. Abdominal pain in cats and after recovery persist for some time.

    If the disease is caused by a coronovirus, then the animal is doomed. Maximum sick cat will live a year. To alleviate the condition, you will need to do painkillers. The owner must understand that in the end, most likely, you will have to euthanize the pet.

    3. Intestinal allergy

    If a cat is intolerant of any product, it may experience increased gas formation, which leads to an extension of the intestines and causes pain. In parallel with this, the cat also has such symptoms:

    • temperature increase;
    • itchy skin;
    • diarrhea;
    • profuse salivation;
    • lacrimation.

    The problem is eliminated quite easily by giving antihistamines and a means to stop increased gas formation.

    4. Pancreatitis

    Inflammatory disease of the pancreas, which may have an acute or chronic course. With a disease, a cat develops a pain syndrome. The pupils of the animal are constantly dilated due to pains that are very strong. Blood is often present in feces. Without treatment, a pet can easily die.

    5. Gallstone disease

    It is commonly found in cats suffering from obesity. The disease is a serious danger, as it can cause a rupture of the gallbladder in the event of a complete blockage of its ducts. When feeling the abdomen in a cat, soreness of the gallbladder is revealed, which is enlarged in case of illness.

    At the moment when a sick animal develops an attack, the following symptoms of a pathological condition arise:

    • pronounced trembling;
    • temperature increase;
    • jaundice.

    Sometimes a strong meow due to unbearable pain is possible.

    6. Problems of the urinary system.

    Diseases of the urinary system, in which there is an increase in pressure on the internal organs of the abdominal cavity, are the reason that the cat has a lower abdomen. You can notice a violation of the condition of the pet by the scarcity of urine released and the presence of a small amount of blood in it.

    7. Poisoning

    The cat can be poisoned for various reasons. The eaten leaves of a poisonous houseplant or products unsuitable for a pet can provoke a dangerous condition. It is the latter that most often cause cat health problems. Sometimes the owners seek to treat the pet with something special for him and do not even think about what they can do to him very badly. In some cases, poisoning can cause the death of a cat. Four-legged friends are poisoned by eating the following food and drink:

    • alcohol - if you give the cat a drink, the liver will cause a serious disruption in work and can cause a dangerous condition, which will be accompanied by pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and even weakness can cause death;
    • chocolate and cocoa - these products can cause severe disturbances in the functioning of the cardiovascular system and pancreas. Pain after such a treat in a cat first occurs in the abdomen, and then spreads to the chest;
    • tea and coffee - a harmful effect, the same as that of chocolate;
    • avocado - Persian for cats is a powerful toxin. If you treat your pet with this delicacy, then he will be provided with abdominal pain, diarrhea and severe upset. In the event that the cat has a weak heart, treating can cause death;
    • milk - adult cats cannot digest lactose, which is part of it. Because of this, their intestines are overloaded, and pain, diarrhea and vomiting occur. If the animal really wants milk, then he should be given dairy products, but only in moderation. You can also treat the cat with a small amount of goat milk, which is much easier for the cat to digest;
    • feeding poor-quality feed - do not give cats spoiled meat and fish. They, like people, will be poisoned by them and will suffer from diarrhea, vomiting and severe stomach pains. Severe poisoning poses a serious threat to life.

    Cats and dubious products that are not known about whether they will harm the cat or not should not be included in the diet. A cat’s stomach problems are not uncommon.

    8. Worm lesions

    9. Problems with the uterus

    When a cat is not sterilized and experiences abdominal pain, gynecological problems should be considered first. Most often, endometritis is diagnosed, which leads to inflammation of the uterine mucosa. The disease has a bacterial and fungal nature. The causative agent is entered sexually.

    In an acute illness, a cat has a strong persistent thirst, fever, an increase in the lower abdomen and inflammation of the loop. Also, due to severe pain, the pet, even the most affectionate, does not allow itself to be touched. Treatment is urgent.

    A cat’s stomach may hurt for many reasons, and in order to accurately answer the question of what the pet suffers from and to conduct quality treatment, a visit to a veterinarian is necessary. Today, you can quickly identify almost any disease, and prescribe the necessary treatment at a time

    Based on materials from the site www.animalwised.com, Josie F. Turner, 2018

    If a cat lives with you, you, of course, have noticed that it sometimes exhibits rather strange behavior. Occasionally the cat lies on its back, exposing its belly. Even stranger is the fact that when she tries to stroke her, she can attack her hand, biting and making paw-like movements resembling rabbits. This is especially embarrassing for dog owners, as dogs usually love being cuddled in this way.

    However, this feature of feline behavior (like many others) cannot be considered strange, just because we do not understand it. Although cats may not like being touched on their stomach, they have their own reasons for adopting this pose. The article attempts to explain this mysterious aspect of feline body language.

    To understand the reasons, you need to figure out what makes cats take one or another pose. The key to understanding is the fact that animals communicate differently than we do. People also use body language when communicating, but to a much lesser extent than animals. Animals poses and movements actively communicate their mood, emotions and perception of the environment. This is especially surprising given the rich possibilities of using voice capabilities for this. The partners for whom the signals are intended may be hunting victims, other cats, and even humans.

    Usually, when a cat lies on its back, showing its stomach, this means that it is in a relaxed, calm state and feels good. Cats can take such a pose only when they feel safe, and only those people or animals with whom a trusting relationship has already been established are nearby. Since the situation is vulnerable, it is understood that there are no enemies nearby who can take advantage of this. If the cat lies on your back near you, it thereby demonstrates its full confidence.   This means that her connection with the owner is strong enough, your presence creates a sense of security.

    The confusion in understanding the meaning of this position is caused by the fact that it simultaneously transmits several signals. When a cat shows his stomach, it is almost certainly a friendly gesture, it implies that she wants to be played with her or is expecting some other kind of response. In this case, the posture serves for positive stimulation. However, it hardly means that the cat will tolerate touching her stomach. Most cats do not like being touched in the abdomen, as this makes them feel vulnerable. Although there are exceptions, a common reaction to trying to pat your stomach is scratching, biting, and poking..

    After some time, the cat may roll over and begin to stretch. This is a natural behavior that means pleasure and a state of relaxation - some individuals react similarly, for example, to the smell of catnip. Any powerful stimulant of satisfaction can lead to such behavior.

    Why do cats not like being patted on their stomachs?

    There are many myths associated with cats and their behavior. One of them is the complete independence of cats. Many people are surprised that they may have some kind of feelings for their owners. Those who share their house with a cat are well aware of how much attachment they can experience.

    If a cat does not like kisses, hugs or touching certain parts of the body, this does not mean that they do not like to be caressed at all. Most animals enjoy petting, even if they are not tolerated for very long. Cats are much smaller than humans, from touching certain places they have negative feelings - insecurity, stress and fear. These feelings can even trigger an instinctive defensive reaction using claws and teeth.

    Active protection of a cat lying on its back with an open belly is not treacherous behavior.   This does not necessarily mean that she is afraid or is aggressive - just such a natural feline behavior. Opening their stomachs, cats do not try to trick a person into attacking him. Moreover, they always show some signs of discomfort and displeasure before they begin defensive actions. They press their ears, strain their body, and sometimes bristle, trying to signal that they do not like what is happening. When communicating with our friends, you need to try to understand their messages. Although a defensive reaction may mean that the cat is offended, she will soon forget about it. But if you continue the "harassment", they will develop a stable reaction that can affect further relationships, appointing you in the eyes of a cat to the role of an antagonist.

    Nevertheless, cats are quite capable of creating a strong bond with the owners. There are many situations when they are happy to take caresses from people. Just because they do not behave like dogs, one cannot conclude that cats do not like or do not trust people. They simply express their feelings and emotions in their own way. Understanding the signals of your pet, you will easily understand when a cat shows its love.

    How to caress a cat?

    Basically, cats like to be petted in the following places:

    • Head;
    • The chin;
    • Neck from the back;
    • Back;

    If you pet a cat in these areas, it will often rub its head against your hand, expressing pleasure. Of course, not all cats are the same. Some, although not many, may even like it when they are patted on the stomach. It is important to consider the tastes and preferences of your cat - this helps strengthen relationships.

    To determine the places the cat likes stroking, start with the following. Iron slowly, carefully, without making sudden movements. Ensuring a calm environment and respect for personal boundaries will be gratefully received by your favorite. In fact, respect is the key to establishing healthy relationships with our loved ones, regardless of their species.

    Very interesting!

    Cats have always lived next to a person and have always benefited him. Nowadays, thanks to the Internet, cats are incredibly popular.

    Many believe that a cat is a wayward animal, and does not know how to show its love for humans. Some people consider them indifferent and indifferent.

    But those who have a cat at home know well that these animals, like dogs, are able to demonstrate their love. Although the manifestation of their love is expressed in more complex forms, and therefore not immediately noticeable.

    1. When a cat tramples you with its paws - this is more than just a massage

    This gesture is a memory of the first days of life. In such a gentle movement, the kitten massages the mother’s chest to release the precious milk. Sometimes these movements can be so energetic, cause inconvenience, but you should feel flattered.

    2. A gift is always a gift, no matter how strange it looks

    Those who have a cat know that sometimes unusual gifts can be found on the carpet, on the pillow - in general, anywhere. Sometimes it can be terrible. For example, if you bring a lizard or a small bird to your pillow. But a gift is always a gift, remember that!

    3. If a cat presses its head against yours - it emphasizes that you belong to it.

    If you look at the lions in their natural environment, you will notice that members of the pride often rub each other's forehead and cheek. The thing is that the glands of cats are scattered virtually throughout the body, and rubbing is a way to "label" relatives with their smell, which strengthens the connection in the pride.

    4. If your cat looks at you, and sometimes narrows your eyes - consider that she kissed you

    A cat's look equates to a kiss. If a cat looks at you and squints, then it expresses its love and calm.

    5. If a cat exposes its stomach - this is not just pampering. So the animal expresses its trust

    A cat is an animal that is very cautious and suspicious. To lie down and show your most vulnerable spot (for example, your stomach) is not only an invitation to the game. By exposing the most sensitive parts of his body, the cat shows that she trusts you.

    6. Tail movements can tell a lot.

    The tail is the main element in feline communication. If it is folded - the animal is calm and relaxed.

    7. The cat bites you because it loves. So she expresses her love and trust

    The skin of cats is very strong. Therefore, when they bite each other during the game, they do not cause any injuries. If your cat bites you, it means that she treats you as an equal and wants to play.

    8. If a cat rubs on its legs, it marks its territory. In this case, you

    The cat rubs against your legs when you come home. The animal compares your body with the smell, and says, "This is my man!"

    9. Purrs and covered eyes express well-being and gratitude

    Purring is the best known way to express appreciation. This is the same sign of attention as trampling. Purring is the first sound a kitten makes. Not being able to drink milk and meow at the same time, the baby, as it were, tells his mother "I eat, everything is fine."

    10. If a cat follows you on the heels - she expresses her love

    Some cats behave like dogs. They follow their master everywhere. But if your cat does not do this, do not think that she does not love you. She probably has a very independent character.

    Cats cannot complain about their health, therefore their health is in your hands. You should carefully monitor your animal, and at the first sign of malaise, changes in appearance or behavior, check if the cat is sick.

    Any deviation from normal behavior is cause for concern.

    If in normal condition your cat keeps independent, and then he suddenly searches for your company and does not step away from you or, on the contrary, does not leave his place all day, then try to find out what happened. Don't think purring for a cat is a sign of health. Purring can sometimes mean pain or malaise. The unexpected aggressiveness of an always calm and flexible cat can be caused by pain, fever, concussion, infection, head injury, convulsions, and a diabetic crisis, which requires medical intervention.

    Signs of a healthy cat

    A few words about how a healthy animal looks. A healthy cat has excellent appetite, a smooth and shiny coat, a cold and moist nose (it can be dry and warm during sleep), the mucous membranes are pink and moderately moist. Vital signs and mobility are also signs of animal health. Important criteria for assessing health status are temperature, heart rate, and respiratory rate.

    Signs of the onset of the disease

    At disease   cat behavior is changing. She becomes lethargic, lies more than usual, looks sad, tries to take refuge in a quiet, dark place, responds reluctantly to a call or, conversely, is too excited, constantly moves around the apartment, meows meowingly or shows aggression. Movements can become awkward, their coordination is disturbed. Signs of the onset of the disease are also fatigue, impaired appetite, perhaps the cat eats nothing, insomnia or vice versa - increased drowsiness.

    Normal temperature is from 38 to 39 degrees (in small kittens - up to 39.6 degrees, and in sphinxes - up to 41.5).

    A rise in temperature above 40 may indicate the onset of the disease. But we should also not forget that the body temperature of the animal rises with excitement and fright, after physical exertion, as well as in hot weather, with poisoning, after electroshock, or due to hyperfunction of the thyroid gland.

    Remember or better write down your cat’s normal body temperature at rest.

    The pulse reflects the frequency and rhythm of the heartbeat, as well as the strength of the tremors of the heart muscle.

    In a calm state, the pulse rate of a healthy cat ranges from 110 to 150 beats per minute.

    In large cats and animals, leading a more relaxed lifestyle, the heartbeat is slow. Pulse becomes frequent with increasing temperature, with inflammatory processes, physical exertion, with overexcitation, fear and hot weather. In kittens and cats of small breeds, the pulse rate can reach 200 beats per minute, in cats the pulse is less frequent than in cats.
      Count and record the pulse rate of your cat at rest - this will help you determine in the future whether its frequency has changed in a particular situation. It is enough to calculate the number of shocks in 15 seconds, and then multiply the resulting value by 4.

    The respiratory rate of a cat is conveniently determined by the movements of the chest, abdominal wall or wings of the nose.

    Normally, it ranges from 20 to 30 respiratory movements per minute.

    Kittens and young animals, whose metabolism is more active than in adults, breathe more often than adult cats, and females breathe more often than males. In addition, pregnant or lactating cats breathe more frequently than normal. Size and genetic factors also affect respiration rate: small cats breathe more often than large cats, which is explained by a higher metabolic rate and, accordingly, increased heat loss. Changes in your cat’s breathing rate can be caused by fear, pain, shock, or respiratory problems. It should also be taken into account that breathing quickens in hot weather, during physical exertion, when a cat is excited. The breathing of a healthy animal after exertion is restored in a few minutes. Shortness of breath can be caused by heat stroke or, in rare cases, a lack of calcium in the blood during lactation in females. The animal can suffocate with heart failure, with inflammation of the genitourinary system, as well as when swallowing a foreign object.

    The coat becomes tousled, tarnishes, increased shedding, discoloration (yellowness) or skin elasticity may occur.
      In a sick cat, discharge (purulent, mucous, etc.) from the nose, eyes, mouth, and other organs is observed. Colorless discharge may indicate anemia, yellowish - indicate damage to the liver, bloody discharge indicate serious infection or poisoning, bluish - heart failure or disturbance in the circulatory system.

    The nasal speculum (nose) is dry, constantly warm (sign of fever), skin with cracks, mucopurulent discharge from the nostrils, the formation of dry crusts, a whitened lobe (sign of anemia) are true signs of a cat's disease.

    A sick cat may experience various discharge from the eyes (transparent, purulent, mucous, etc.), squinting and lacrimation can reflect pain in the eye, with a number of diseases yellowness of the mucous membrane, inflammation of the eyelids are observed. With conjunctivitis, poisoning and some other cases, the eyes sometimes turn out to be half-closed by the third eyelid.

    As for the oral cavity, increased salivation can be observed with the disease, bad breath is noted, the gums and tongue are covered with plaque or sores. The mucous membranes of the mouth and eyelids are pale, cyanotic or icteric.

    Signs of digestive problems

    Digestion can also be disturbed. The activity of the gastrointestinal tract is changed: vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, painful bowel movements, and gas congestion in the intestines are noted. Foreign objects (wool, worms, etc.) appear in the feces. Drops of blood in the feces (normally they should be brown) also indicate a serious internal pathology - usually bleeding in the large intestine. The gastric bleeding, or bleeding in the anterior intestine, is evidenced by a tarry stool of a dark, almost black, color. Clarified feces are a sign of liver disease (lack of bile, etc.). Foamy feces are an indicator of a bacterial infection.

    Signs of problems with the genitourinary system

    From the genitourinary system, the following deviations can be noted: increased urination, urinary incontinence, lack of urination, pain when the bladder is empty, discoloration (normal urine is yellow) and the amount of urine, unpleasant odor, mucopurulent discharge from the genitals, hunched back, stiff gait, soreness in the lumbar region. The fact that the cat had problems with the kidneys may also indicate a sweet smell from the mouth. Diseases that impede urination and passage of food can be a tumor, prostate hypertrophy, hemorrhoids, cystitis, urolithiasis.

    Other signs

    Breathing becomes frequent or, conversely, rare and cautious (with pain), wheezing, wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath appear. Shortness of breath in a cat can be caused by increased physical exertion, asthma, inflammation or emphysema, which, in turn, is a consequence of poisoning. Shortness of breath is observed with pleurisy, heart failure, anemia, and worms. In older cats, a cough may be a sign of heart failure.

    Lymphatic system. Enlarged lymph nodes, as a rule, indicate the presence of an inflammatory process. Most often submandibular lymph nodes are involved in this process, so you should learn to find and feel them.

    Increased thirst can be associated with a cold, diabetes, dropsy, kidney failure, or kidney disease, and if physical weakness and smell from the mouth are added to it, then this is likely to indicate uremia.

    HOW TO DETERMINE A CAT'S PREGNANCY?

    Vomiting develops in response to the ingestion of poisonous herbs in the stomach and, in general, during poisoning, helminthic infestations, and travel in vehicles. Vomiting and increasing physical weakness in combination with constipation indicate bowel obstruction and the presence of a foreign body in the intestine.

    Yellowness of the mucous membranes can be a sign of hepatitis, poisoning, leptospirosis.

    Increased salivation occurs when the tongue and oral cavity are damaged, when a foreign body enters the esophagus, during heat and sunstroke, in case of poisoning and some liver diseases. It can also be a symptom of such a terrible disease as rabies.

    But these signs of diseases, as a rule, do not manifest all at the same time: usually one sign is most pronounced, and the rest accompany it (in one or another combination). The improvement in health and recovery of the cat can be judged after the disappearance of all the painful manifestations characteristic of a particular disease.

    The cat pose can tell a lot. A healthy animal rests or sleeps in a relaxed position, straightening its torso and stretching out its limbs. A sick cat takes a forced position that helps to reduce pain or any unpleasant sensations. In particular, in case of heart disease, the cat stands with its forelimbs widely spread - this makes breathing easier; the cat keeps the damaged limb on weight; with urolithiasis, intermittent claudication is possible on the hind legs on the left or on the right, respectively, a sick kidney, etc.
