Rose hips: medicinal properties and contraindications for the health of women, men and children. Rose hip

Wild rose is an unpretentious and ubiquitous medicinal plant. Preparations based on it have a complex effect on the body, maintaining strength, facilitating the work of the heart and blood vessels, saturating it with vitamins, microelements, and normalizing metabolism. Regular consumption of flowers and berries of the bush serves as a preventive measure for many diseases and is necessary for the prevention of SARS and influenza. Especially in demand are fresh and dried rose hips, known for their medicinal properties and rich composition.

Composition features

Rosehip is a valuable source of natural ascorbic acid in an easily digestible form. It is also extremely rich in carotene, B, E, P, K vitamins, salts of potassium, iron, calcium, manganese, copper, magnesium, zinc and phosphorus. The plant contains citric and malic acids, pectins, tannins, sugars, essential oils, phytoncides.

Rose hips May (cinnamon) and wrinkled have the most "concentrated" composition, which determines their pronounced medicinal properties, however, berries of any kind of shrub can be used in the treatment of various diseases in the absence of contraindications. In folk recipes, leaves and flowers of the plant, roots, branches, oil from its fruits are also used.

Rules for the preparation of medicines

Rose hips are harvested from August to October while they are firm. Frosts negatively affect the medicinal properties of fruits, reducing the content of vitamins. For drying, an oven preheated to 70-75 ° C is used: obtaining high-quality material takes about 3.5 hours with the door ajar for ventilation.

You can harvest both peeled berries, cutting them fresh and removing nuts and hairs, and whole ones. After drying, they should retain their original color. Darkening indicates that a significant proportion of vitamins and nutrients have been destroyed, which is a contraindication to the use of such fruits for food.

The preparation of home remedies from rose hips requires the use of glass, porcelain or enamelware. You can infuse berries using a thermos with a glass flask. In it, crushed rose hips give the largest extraction of vitamin C in 6-9 hours, after which its destruction begins. Whole berries reach this figure after 35 hours and keep it up to 42 hours.

Advice: When using a conventional thermos to infuse rose hips, it is better to use a smaller glass vessel to avoid contact of the drink with the stainless steel walls.

  1. Absolute contraindications are thrombophlebitis, heart failure in the dystrophic stage, endocarditis, individual intolerance and allergy to rosehip preparations.
  2. Acid gastritis, gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers limit the use of products containing significant amounts of vitamin C.
  3. Eating large amounts of the pulp of wild rose berries during pregnancy can cause miscarriage.
  4. Large stones in the gallbladder are a contraindication to its treatment with traditional medicine: serious complications are possible, up to blocking the duct.
  5. Alcohol tinctures of rose hips increase blood pressure, they should not be taken with hypertension.

Taking formulations with a high content of rose hips for a long period worsens the condition of the liver. Preparations based on shrub roots, in turn, can provoke constipation, weaken the secretion of insulin and bile.

Warning: Home treatment using folk remedies should be agreed with the doctor.

Rosehip is a frequent component of traditional medicine recipes and pharmaceutical preparations, such as Carotolin, a drug used to heal the skin, rosehip syrup, which acts as a multivitamin herbal remedy. Rosehip, its beneficial properties and contraindications are known to pharmacists and doctors, it is used in several forms - decoction, dry berries (fruits), fresh berries (on their own or added to black tea). This is one of the few components that can almost unconditionally be used during pregnancy. Leaves are rarely used, because they contain fewer nutrients than the root and fruits.

Rosehip exposure

Equally well suited for men, children and women. The antioxidant effect of wild rose is due to the content of vitamins A and E in its composition (leaves do not contain them). They also contribute to the rapid healing of the skin. Vitamin C in the composition makes decoctions from the berries of this plant or taking them in any other form an excellent way to increase immunity, especially in the autumn-spring period (at this time, an infusion of dried berries is used, since it will not be possible to purchase fresh ones). However, vitamin C is contained mainly in fruits (400-1200 mg per 100 g of fruit). Its roots and leaves almost do not contain. There are also a number of trace elements and minerals:

  • Magnesium (8-20 mg per 100 g), which strengthens bones, helps maintain heart rhythm, which is involved in the immune and muscle systems;
  • Potassium (23-485 mg per 100 g), necessary for the normal functioning of the heart and blood vessels, which allows you to keep the nervous system in order;
  • Calcium for strengthening bones, nails (26-62 mg per 100 g).

If you regularly consume plant oil sold in pharmacies, then cholesterol levels decrease over time, which, among other things, is beneficial for the liver. This is due to the production of protective HDL - cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein), the level of which rises when vitamin C enters the body. In liver diseases, rose hips are recommended for use because it has a powerful choleretic effect. It is also good during pregnancy to strengthen the immune system.

The main thing that rosehip is useful for men is its beneficial effect on the walls of blood vessels. After 40 years, men are very susceptible to diseases of the heart and blood vessels, unlike women. Therefore, potassium, which contains rose hips, is indispensable for them. The leaves do not contain it. In diseases of the genitourinary system, both in women and men, it is indispensable due to its diuretic effect. Useful for men and for the liver.

Rosehip during pregnancy

The main property that rose hips are useful for the body of pregnant women is the content of vitamin C in berries. Since immunity decreases during pregnancy as a result of hormonal imbalance, this vitamin will help support it.

It is good to take a drink for the prevention of SARS, since other means during pregnancy are contraindicated. However, the recommendations are valid only in the normal course of pregnancy. If there are any deviations in the condition of the mother or the unborn baby, then you need to consult a doctor before taking the infusion.

In addition, the diuretic effect of tea from the plant has a positive effect during pregnancy. It will not allow swelling to form. Good for the liver too.

Preparation of infusion from fruits

Rosehip decoction, the benefits and contraindications of which will be listed below, is prepared from different components: fruits, leaves, root. Pharmacy syrup is similar in properties, because it is also prepared from fruit puree. The infusion is good because it preserves ascorbic acid in its active form, which is contained in a lot of rose hips (10 times more than in green apples). But in order for all the useful substances that contain leaves, berries and roots to be preserved, it must be prepared in accordance with the instructions below and carefully observing the proportions of the components.

It is preferable to use the infusion when you want to get the maximum of vitamin C from the fruits - with a cold and / or a spring drop in immunity. A decoction is also used, however, boiling destroys more than half of the vitamin C and is less beneficial for the liver. Preparing the infusion is simple - chop dry berries, grind them in a mortar. Bring the volume of the dry component to two tablespoons. Pour boiling water in the amount of 2.5 cups, now cover, wrap in a towel and put in a warm place. Let the solution stand for 2 hours. Now the drink needs to be filtered through 3-4 layers of gauze and it is ready to drink.

Advice. It is even easier to prepare such a drink in a thermos. The proportions remain the same, but it is not necessary to crush the fruits before that. Just put the berries in a thermos and pour boiling water over them. Leave the mixture to stand overnight. In the morning, strain the drink through a fine sieve and start drinking.

Infusion from the roots

If you prepare medicinal roots yourself, then take only thin ones - those that extend to the sides in bunches, do not touch the central coarse root. There are almost no useful substances left in the stiff roots. Prepare the infusion as follows: pour a teaspoon of crushed roots with one glass of boiling water and leave to infuse for 2 hours under the lid. Strain the composition.

Its use is not as pleasant as berry tinctures, but it is in the roots that substances that are useful for the liver (they have the maximum choleretic effect) and for the gallbladder are hidden. Since this infusion has a diuretic property, it is good for cystitis. And because it is able to reduce the strength of spasms and pain.

The root also exhibits medicinal properties in intestinal disorders. It is used as an astringent and disinfectant component. It can also be used during pregnancy, as it does not cause harm. The sour taste of the drink helps relieve nausea with toxicosis.

Infusion of flowers

The healing beneficial properties of rose hips can be assessed by using not only berries, leaves and roots, but also flowers. All they need is petals. They are best harvested from fresh flowers. You need to make an infusion like this:

  1. crush the petals;
  2. stir two tablespoons of the powder in one and a half glasses of boiling water;
  3. leave covered for 30 minutes;
  4. wait for cooling;
  5. pass through a sieve.

Rose hips will reveal beneficial properties when used infusion for the face twice a day. It tones aging skin, rejuvenates, gives radiance. Heals minor cracks and damage. The bactericidal and healing properties prevent the development of infections and fight rashes and pimples. Because this lotion is popular with women.

In the presence of inflammation on the skin, the lotion not only has an active bactericidal effect, but also relieves pain. In case of severe inflammation and infections, you should consult your doctor before use. Sometimes doctors even prescribe to wash the eyes with such a solution for suppuration and conjunctivitis. Use during pregnancy will not harm.

Contraindications for use

You can not take oil, syrup, and also brew rosehip tea for those who have cholelithiasis. The active diuretic effect can cause the movement of stones in the gallbladder and further blockage of the ducts. The risk of such a complication is quite low, but the harm to health if it occurs is significant.

Avoid using rosehip oil, infusion and syrup, regardless of whether the fruit, leaves or root were used for its preparation, in case of serious diseases of the cardiovascular system. In this case, the effect on the vessels of vitamin K contained in rose hips can be harmful, not beneficial. With diagnosed thrombophlebitis or with a tendency to form blood clots, it is impossible to use an infusion or syrup from any part of the dog rose. Vitamin K increases blood clotting, and therefore can be harmful to health by provoking blood clots.

Although in general the fruits of the plant and the oil and syrup from them have a beneficial effect on the stomach, it is impossible to drink a drink during an exacerbation of peptic ulcer. This can cause serious harm to health due to the significant content of malic and citric acids that the root, fruits and leaves of this plant contain. For the same reason, do not drink infusion with high acidity of the stomach, high secretion of digestive juice.

The general rule for the use of any folk remedy is this: for serious chronic diseases, before you start using, consult your doctor. This will help to get the maximum benefit from the intake, eliminating harm to the body.

How to use?

The benefits of rose hips will be fully revealed only if the drink (or lotion) is properly prepared and used. Do not exceed the dosage, as there is a risk of allergies.

  • For a tonic effect, you need to brew fruits for yourself and take the drink on an empty stomach, half an hour before breakfast. Tones up no worse than black tea;
  • For liver diseases, as a choleretic agent, drink the infusion three times a day before meals in a volume of 75–100 ml. It is better if at least 20 minutes pass between taking the infusion and food;
  • For colds and to boost immunity, you should take a drink before bedtime in the amount of 1 cup.

You can also brew black tea and other drinks with berries. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake of any dosage form. Only in this way, everything that a rosehip decoction is useful for can be fully manifested and will not harm your body. For adults (healthy and with chronic liver disease in a non-acute form), it is enough to drink one glass of the solution per day. During pregnancy, it is better to first lower this dose to 0.5 cups, if no skin or similar allergic reactions are observed, increase it to 1 cup. Children under the age of 12 should also consume half a glass of such medicinal teas a day.

All that rosehip tea is useful for is manifested only with regular intake. Use this tea in courses to maintain the liver, obtain diuretic and choleretic effects, and strengthen the immune system. The duration of the course is 2 weeks. Stop for 1 week. This will help the liver, stomach, immunity, but will not increase the risk of allergies.

If you use rosehip syrup purchased at a pharmacy, then do it in strict accordance with the instructions. The syrup is taken for 15 (30 - as agreed with the doctor) days, for adults 1 - 2 tablespoons 2 - 3 times a day. Children under 12 years old: 1 dessert spoon 2-3 times a day. The syrup is not suitable for children under two years of age. Also, during pregnancy, the syrup is prescribed in consultation with the attending physician.

Among the many versions of the origin of the names of this ubiquitous, two-meter-high perennial shrub from the huge Rosaceae family, one claims that it was called “dog rose” (Rosa canina L.) or “rose hip” for its thorns resembling fangs.

Indeed, crooked sharp thorns richly adorn the green hanging branches. From May to June, they are covered with solitary, rarely up to 4 in an inflorescence, wonderful pink or white flowers, up to 5 cm in diameter, with a surprisingly pleasant smell. There is another version of the origin of the "dog" name, it is associated with the use of rosehip roots to treat rabies in these human friends.

For many millennia, the wild rose has accompanied people on their endless journey on this planet. It grows everywhere, on all continents, except for the extreme northern and southern latitudes with eternal frosty winters. Rosehip is truly a real gift of nature, a storehouse of all imaginable useful substances, it has a large number of medicinal properties and a number of contraindications.

If the delicate skin of this place does not show irritation, then the product is quite safe, it can be used.

However, unlike most essential oils, rosehip oil can generally be applied undiluted to the skin. Moreover, it goes well with other oils, serves as the basic basis for the compositional groups of them. Rose oil perfectly saves and heals the skin from sunburn.

These properties are due to the concentration of various GLAs, such as fatty acids similar to those found in fish. It is known that acids of this group significantly reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, help the body restore or utilize worn out cells.

Therefore, thanks to this composition, rosehip oil is excellent for most skin types, promotes its regeneration, softens, smoothes wrinkles, accelerates wound healing, prevents scarring, promotes the resorption of scars, stretch marks, burns.

Rose oil is considered an excellent moisturizer for skin care and grafted areas. Its properties best contribute to the natural bonding of the grafted tissue and the natural epidermis thanks to:

  • a composition that provides extraordinary healing abilities, making the oil a wonderful asset against the risk of scar tissue formation;
  • ease of combination with other oils or lotions for the treatment of postoperative wounds, scars;
  • ease of collagen formation, which prevents wrinkles, premature skin aging;

For massage, treatment and cleansing of the skin, a few drops of rosehip oil up to 10% of the total required volume added to neutral vegetable or jojoba oil will suffice.

Note! In addition to a therapeutic and massage preparation, wild rose clear essential oil is an unsurpassed aromatherapy agent.

The soft, slightly earthy smell of a heated aroma lamp easily relieves panic anxiety, stress, and any anxiety. This is the effect of real magic. Anger, stress, depression, sadness of loneliness go somewhere. A feeling of happiness and peace settles in the soul. It is important not to forget that such amazing preparations should be stored away from sources of heat and light, in places inaccessible to children and pets. At the same time, care must be taken to prevent the possibility of rapid rancidity of the oil.

Rose petal infusion is a fantastic astringent and skin tonic. It is indispensable for people who have too oily skin. The action of tannins contained in the flowers contributes to the closure of pores, toning the skin. This is an excellent remedy for juvenile acne.

Another proven remedy was rose water. It is a natural tonic for extremely effective skin cleansing. It is obtained from French rose petals by distillation. The final product has a strong concentration that requires mandatory dissolution in small amounts of water before use. The most famous producer of such water in the world is Bulgaria.

At home, rose water of fairly high quality can be obtained by boiling 150 grams of petals in a glass of water. Infuse the broth for at least 5 minutes, then filter through a cloth, store in a clean, hermetically sealed container.

Rosehip and amulets

The universal belief in the efficacy of rose magic gave rise to an ancient beautiful custom of wearing special amulets that can attract love or passion. For this, women must wear a living rose in their hair. A little worse, but still effective hairpins or brooches in the form of a rose.

The power of such an amulet is greatly increased if it is made of gold or adorned with several diamonds. It is enough for men to wear on the lapel an amulet of a simple wild Tudor rose, in the form of the family coat of arms of the British ruling royal house. The color of the amulet plays an important role:

  • red speaks of deep passion;
  • pink is typical for romantic relationships;
  • white symbolizes true love;
  • yellow speaks of tender, but sometimes jealous feelings.

Features of the use of rose hips for children

However, the wild rose was next to people not only in matters of love. The healing properties of wild rose became a real salvation for millions of children in England during the Second World War, when sea supplies to the British Isles were completely blocked by the German navy. An acute deficiency of vitamin C in the diet of children has become a direct threat of mass diseases of scurvy.

The real danger was eliminated with the help of the miraculous fruits of the wild rose. Their collection in huge quantities was established at the state level. Processed into syrup, rose hips became a great, full-fledged replacement for citrus fruits, which were then completely unavailable in the Isles, even for members of the royal family.

Such a phenomenal result is not surprising, because rose hips are the richest natural source of vitamin C (natural ascorbic acid). At present, it has become common to obtain "ascorbic acid" by chemical means. However, the artificial vitamin is in many ways inferior to the natural composition contained in the rosehip.

Note! Laboratory studies have unequivocally proven that wild rose fruits contain 16 times more ascorbic acid than lemons or other citrus fruits. Therefore, they are undeniable.

In addition, the unique combination of bioflavonoids makes it easy to absorb and assimilate the entire group of the so-called vitamin C-complex, while increasing the body's resistance to stress during the fight against infection.

Natural vitamin C, obtained from rose hips, has a maximum bioavailability also due to the high content of anthocyanidins. An important feature of the chemical composition of rose hips, in addition to vitamins of the C-complex, is the high content of vitamin A. In terms of its amount, wild rose is twice ahead of peaches, traditionally recommended by all pediatricians.

Currants, rich in this vitamin, are 10 times inferior to rose hips, and apples - 20 times. All together gives the unique effect of rose hips as a powerful antioxidant, a great tonic that can most effectively provide:

  1. Rapid reduction of painful symptoms of colds, flu.
  2. Long-term strengthening of the immune system.
  3. Powerful antioxidant protection.
  4. Increase your appetite naturally.
  5. Long-term maintenance of the general tone, the state of health of the body.

This makes rose hips with natural ascorbic acid and other vitamins in its composition as much as possible relevant to the characteristics of a developing child's body.

The use of preparations from wild rose, dosage

Like all medicines, rose hips should be used only after consultation with a specialist in medical practice and appropriate education. In this case, it is necessary to observe the recommended norms, methods of using drugs, including rose hips and its components. For children, the most common intake doses, depending on the age group, are:

  • children from 3 to 7 years old can be given twice a day no more than one teaspoon of a concentrated preparation from rose hips;
  • for children over 7 years old, the rate is doubled;

Note! The condition for safe intake should be the obligatory use by children of preparations based on rose hips as part of fermented dairy products (yogurts, kefirs), hot tea, fruit juices or boiled water. In the absence of allergic reactions, diluted honey or sugar syrup can be used. can be read in our article.

When using rose hips by adults, the minimum amount is from one teaspoon of dried, ground rose hips without seeds. If the goal is intensive fortification for no more than three months, this rate is tripled or quadrupled, taking into account 3-fold intake after meals during the day.

But in the case of diseases of the stomach, as well as the increased acidity associated with them, it is necessary to reduce the indicated amounts. The use of rosehip preparations for a longer time can lead to inhibition of liver functions and cause liver diseases.

There are strict recommendations and restrictions for people with high or low blood pressure. Hypertensive patients should give preference to alcohol, vodka tinctures of rose hips. Hypotonic patients, on the contrary, are shown water infusions. Although these are general recommendations, since the effect of alcohol on the body and blood pressure is unpredictable. You can find the answer in the link.

Note! Since the composition of alcohol tinctures is designed for the maximum effect of treatment already at minimum doses, exceeding them can lead to unforeseen results. Therefore, it is strictly not recommended to violate the recommended standards.

To prevent the destruction of tooth enamel by natural acids in teas and rosehip infusions, water rinsing of the mouth after drinking them will help. Increased flatulence, possibly associated with taking wild rose, is easily eliminated by eating dill, parsley or celery.

In general, it should be remembered that enhanced vitaminization with rose hips cannot fully replace a balanced diet. Excess consumption of products based on rose hips is not recommended, because an excess of vitamin C can lead to a prolonged laxative effect.

Important! can be only in case of observance of dosages!

The results of the interaction of wild rose with some drugs

Care should be taken to combine wild rose, which actively interacts with the following drugs:

  • with a high aluminum content, as in the case of antacids, vitamin C can drastically increase the body's absorption of aluminum, which can lead to increased anxiety. To avoid possible consequences, rose hips are best taken two hours before or after taking antacids;
  • containing estrogens, since the plant increases the side effects associated with an increase in the absorption of estrogen by the body;
  • fluphenazine (Prolixin), an excess of vitamin C stimulates the body to accelerate the disposal of the drug, which reduces the effectiveness of its action;
  • containing lithium, since taking rose hips causes a deterioration in the excretion of lithium by the body, which leads to serious side effects;
  • with warfarin, which slows down blood clotting and interacts well with this plant. With a large amount, there is a high risk of blood clotting at the most inopportune moment.

Note! When combining rose hips with aspirin, magnesium choline trisalicylate, salsalate, you need to be careful about a possible decrease in the rate of excretion of these drugs from the body.

Vitamin VNIVI. Large fruits are distinguished by a high content of vitamin C, carotene, vitamin P group. Yields up to 2.5 kg of yield per bush, there are practically no thorns near the fruits. For pollination, a bush of a different variety is needed, for example, "Vorontsovsky-1".

Vorontsovsky-1. Gives up to 2 kg of fruit per bush. Useful high content of ascorbic acid, group of vitamins P, vitamin B9 (folic acid).

Large-fruited VNIVI. This variety of wild rose is useful for the property of repeatedly blooming during the season. The fruits are large, but they contain less vitamin C. The plant is covered with thorns, but it is winter-hardy, productive, and little susceptible to pests and diseases.

Spire. It is distinguished by a high yield of up to 2.5 kg per bush, a high content of vitamin C. The bush is compact, winter-hardy, resistant to diseases. Almost does not spread over the site with rhizomatous offspring.

the globe. Winter-hardy, gives up to 2.5 kg of yield from each bush. Large spherical fruits with a high content of ascorbic acid are distinguished from other varieties.

Titanium. A powerful bush is practically not susceptible to disease, decorates the site. Large fruits grow side by side in 3-5 pieces.

Apple. Unsightly and undersized, gives very large fruits, the yield is not inferior to the bushes of the Titan variety.

Ural Champion. Winter-hardy, suitable for cultivation in all regions. Yields a crop of large fruits with a high content of ascorbic acid.

Other varieties. "Mayak", "Merry", "Firstborn", "Vasily Ivanovich" contain ascorbic acid in fruits, are useful for high yields, winter hardiness, resistance to diseases and pests.

How to grow wild rose

The shrub prefers a bright, wind-protected place. The soil should not be swampy, saline, acidic.

It is better to propagate by offspring and dividing the bush, although seeds, layering, root and stem cuttings are also used.

Offspring are taken from healthy bushes in late autumn or early spring. The rhizome of the offspring is left 12-17 cm long, the above-ground part is cut to 5 cm. When dividing the bush, strong plants are also selected, the shoots are cut to 7-10 cm. It is better to immerse the roots in a clay mash.

Dig a hole up to 50 cm wide and deep, add rotted manure or humus. Water the plant thoroughly after planting.

Rosehip does not require special care, it is enough to regularly water and weed it.

It bears fruit in 2-3 years, gives the most abundant harvest in 3-5 years.

Collection, preparation for the winter

Rosehip reaches its maximum useful properties from August to October. The fruits are harvested red or orange, which remain firm. It is important to have time to harvest before frost - thawed rose hips lose some of their vitamins.

Drying. Rose hips are dried in an oven with the door ajar for ventilation at a temperature of +70..+75C for 3-4 hours. Dry fruits retain almost the same color. A change in color to maroon or brown is a sign of the destruction of vitamins.

“Unpeeled” (whole) and “peeled” fruits are dried for the winter. To obtain “peeled” fruits, they are cut fresh, nuts and hairs are removed, and dried.

Leaf Harvesting. The leaves are dried under a canopy, in a slight draft. Then cut into tea leaves and lightly fried on a baking sheet to make a darker infusion.

Flowers harvesting. Flowers are harvested shortly before falling off. Dry in a shady ventilated place, turning frequently.

Harvesting roots. The roots are dug up in autumn. Rinse thoroughly, cut and dry in the shade in a draft.

The dried rosehip crop retains its beneficial properties in a dark, cool place, but not in the refrigerator. Container - paper bags, fabric bags, wooden or cardboard boxes.

Rosehip jam recipes:

  • Grind 2 parts fresh rose hips with 3 parts sugar.

Rosehip jam is stored at a temperature of +15C, it does not lose its beneficial properties. An increase in temperature causes fermentation, which stops the decrease in temperature.

  • Grind 1 part fruit with 2 parts sugar.

Jam is stored up to 3 years.

  1. Release 1 kg of fruits from seeds, rinse, bring to a boil in a small amount of water, put in a colander.
  2. Prepare sugar syrup from 1 liter of water and 1.5 kg of sugar.
  3. Pour boiled fruits with syrup, add 300 g of cranberries.
  4. Cook until done.

Contraindications and harm

Despite the beneficial properties of rose hips, its popularity in home treatment, a doctor's consultation is necessary before taking folk remedies.

Due to the high content of ascorbic acid, drink infusions through a straw so as not to damage tooth enamel. Rinse your mouth thoroughly after taking the infusion.

Rosehip preparations are contraindicated in thrombophlebitis, endocarditis and dystrophic stage of heart failure due to vitamin K, which increases blood clotting.

Prolonged intake of wild rose infusion can cause congestion in the liver, its inflammation.

A decoction of rosehip roots causes constipation, reduces the separation of bile, the production of insulin by the pancreas.

For many people, the most vivid childhood memory is how a grandmother treated a cold with rosehip infusion. And the care was pleasant, and the medicine was not unpleasant, and most importantly, it quickly helped. Rosehip really brings a lot of benefits, and all thanks to the amount of vitamins that a person needs to maintain health.

Rosehip is a thorny shrub that grows up to two meters. Otherwise, it is called the wild rose of May and the wild rose. Flowering lasts from May to July, but the time when the fruits appear is most important for people. This period falls on August - October. They have a spherical shape, are quite small in size, and the colors are most often orange-red. It is believed that the largest set of valuable substances can be found in rose hips in the period of full ripening.

For treatment, those fruits that are already ripe, but not yet soft, are needed. It is necessary to have time to harvest before the first frost. Less commonly, healers use roots and flowers, as well as galls - these are special growths located on fruits.

Autumn cooking processes

When it's time to collect rose hips, you should know some features:

  • bushes should be located far from hazardous industries and highways;
  • fruits should not be damaged and soft;
  • plucked fruits should be with the stalk and the remains of the calyx.

Wild rose bushes are found everywhere - in floodplains and meadows, in forests and near residential buildings, on chalk slopes and in gardens. It is readily bred by amateur gardeners.

Rose hips have many species, more than 30. Most are low in vitamins, for example, dog rose hips. Brown rosehip is especially distinguished by its medicinal properties.

Before you dry the wild rose, you need to sort out the fruits, but it is not recommended to wash them. If you wish, you can cut each fruit in half, sometimes they do this so that the long drying process does not destroy the beneficial substances. At home, without having a special device, the fruits can be dried using one of the selected options:

  1. Heat the oven to a temperature of 100 degrees, place the rose hips in it, but only for 5-10 minutes, no longer. Then reduce the heat to a temperature of 70 degrees, and dry until tender.
  2. Preheat the oven to 40 degrees and place the baking sheet on which the fruits are located in it, in only one layer. So they will dry for an hour. Then increase the heat to 60 degrees.

Be sure to preheat the oven to the required temperature before starting the process, and not send the fruits to the cold. Periodically, you need to turn the dogrose over and leave the door ajar to provide fresh air. You can make sure that everything is done correctly by pressing the fruit. If it springs, does not bend, then all the rules have been followed. If overdrying occurs, the rosehip begins to crumble.

It is advisable to grind the processed fruits in your hands in order to remove the sepals with such actions. Then they should be washed and dried. Before sending the crop for storage, you need to make sure that there are no under-dried fruits, otherwise they will all quickly become moldy. Therefore, it is advisable to keep the rosehip at room temperature for several days in a paper package or fabric bag to even out the humidity, and only then transfer it to a glass or tin container. It is better to close with a fabric base so that air can circulate freely.

Fruits retain their value for three years.

Compound

Rosehip is very useful, first of all, because the pulp of the fruit contains:

  1. Vitamin C- up to 20 percent. Among other antioxidants, this vitamin is considered the most powerful. It is able to bind free radicals, preventing them from destroying body tissues. It also increases the activity of antioxidants. Vitamin E is quickly restored from its oxidized form, provided that vitamin C is present nearby. A person needs ascorbic acid to regulate lipid levels, as well as blood clotting, form connective and bone tissues, regulate carbohydrate metabolism, and help the immune system. Vitamin C is useful in that it stimulates the production of interferon, which prevents viruses that have entered the body from developing.
  2. Vitamin B2. In order for red blood cells to form, cellular respiration is carried out, riboflavin is needed. It makes it easier for the body's tissues to absorb oxygen.
  3. Vitamin R. Its task is to maintain the elasticity, structure and function of blood vessels, blocking the possibility of sclerotic lesions. Rutin maintains the level of normal pressure by dilating blood vessels. It relieves swelling, exhibits a pronounced anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory effect. Rutin reduces intraocular pressure.
  4. Vitamin RR. It helps to qualitatively assimilate protein from plant foods, and therefore nicotinic acid is especially useful for people who have excluded meat and fish from the diet, or for those who prefer diets or fasting as a method of losing weight. It takes part in the metabolism of carbohydrates, normalizes gastric secretion and enhances gastric peristalsis. If the body lacks this vitamin, dermatoses begin to develop immediately, the work of the gastrointestinal tract is disturbed, and as a result, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea or constipation, pain in the stomach, and anorexia appear. Often memory is reduced and weight is significantly lost.
  5. Vitamin K. Its presence is essential during the blood clotting process. Because rosehip quickly heals wounds. If this vitamin is not enough, frequent ruptures of small blood vessels begin. Also, phylloquinone enhances intestinal and stomach peristalsis, maintains the normal functioning of the heart and liver, participates, and very actively, in intracellular respiration.
  6. Carotene. Thanks to it, immunity is strengthened, the body is protected from colds. As an antioxidant, it prevents the negative effects of free radicals. Important for the reproductive function of the body.
  7. pectin substances. Reduce dangerous levels of cholesterol and sugar levels, reduce the possibility of getting cancer.
  8. Linoleic acid. Allows you to reduce weight, maintains hormonal and water balances, prevents the development of skin inflammation and joint inflammation.
  9. Tannins. A strong antidote that can mitigate mercury and lead poisoning.
  10. Flavonoids. In combination with a large amount of ascorbic acid, these substances acquire anti-hyaluronidase activity in rose hips. This means that the permeability of the connective tissue, intercellular spaces and capillary walls decreases. As a result, puffiness is removed, and it is difficult for infections to enter the body.
  11. fruit acids. Renew and stimulate cells, renewing the skin.
  12. Tannins. Their greatest merit is their hemostatic and anti-inflammatory capabilities.

A large percentage of salts of potassium, iron, as well as manganese, phosphorus and magnesium.

The seeds found:

  • vitamin E;
  • carotene;
  • fatty oil.

Leaves, roots, galls and bark contain tannins.

Due to the high content of vitamins, especially ascorbic acid, and bioflavonoids, rose hips have established themselves as the strongest antioxidant. Helps the plant absorb iron better. If this element is not enough for the body, then the level of hemoglobin will drop catastrophically, which will provoke such a disease as anemia. In this case, the immune system cannot protect the body from the invasion of diseases, vital energy will be reduced.

Long-term use of the wild rose has proved that it has many positive powers, being such a remedy:

  • choleretic;
  • diuretic and laxative;
  • astringent;
  • anti-inflammatory;
  • soothing;
  • anti-sclerotic;
  • hemostatic, but not very strong;
  • wound healing.

A set of vitamins and other useful substances helps the digestion process, metabolism is better carried out. Rosehip is able to stimulate directly the hematopoietic apparatus and even enhances the so-called phagocytic ability of leukocytes, does not increase capillary fragility. Even ordinary decoctions will help restore efficiency and relieve various types of overwork - physical or mental.

Rose hips are very useful for schoolchildren, especially in spring, when the body is exhausted, absent-mindedness and inattention appear. To overcome chronic fatigue syndrome, you will need to include wild roses in your diet.

Doctors use wild rose as a medicine when treatment or prevention of avi-hypovitaminosis, asthenia, atherosclerosis is required. Wild rose helps in the treatment of the liver and biliary tract, lungs, including tuberculosis.

Rose hips are included in many medicines, potions, vitamin preparations.

The well-known rosehip oil is made from seeds, and syrups, extracts, quite tasty juices, tablets, dragees and even sweets are obtained from its fruits. Carotolin is produced from fruits. Most often it is used during the treatment of peptic ulcer and other types of ulcers, hemorrhoids, proctosigmoiditis, dermatosis. Also used when treatment of wounds, bedsores and burns is required.

Traditional medicine is confident that rose hips have much wider possibilities, therefore they use it when treatment is needed:

  • kidneys and stones in them;
  • cystitis;
  • worms;
  • gallbladder / bladder;
  • the so-called anacid gastritis;
  • developing peptic ulcer;
  • severe bleeding gums;
  • dropsy;
  • frequent headache;
  • diarrhea
